Does donor education unlock generosity?
Underlying research
This research addresses a critical gap: According to the 2024 Bank of America high-net-worth donor study, while 63% of high-net-worth individuals want to be more knowledgeable about charitable giving and only 40% have giving plans. Most existing donor education focuses on vehicles and tax strategies rather than strategic thinking and nonprofit sector understanding, or is only accessible to donors at the highest wealth tiers, or is offered as a part of a suite of paid services from financial advisors with upsells.
Optional participation in pre- and post-course surveys enables us to test the curriculum and donor learning to discover what aspects help donors take the next step in their giving and the changes in their giving as a result.
Confidentiality at the forefront
All research responses are anonymized and remain private with the course facilitators. Individual responses, demographic information, and conversations are optional and private.
“I found it very valuable to go through a process of guided reflection that helped affirm several core aspects of our giving approach as well as surface ways we can improve and make our giving more meaningful.”
